This is a very important ceremony which is held 2 weeks to 1 month before the actual Wedding Day. It acts like an engagement for the chinese to confirm the wedding between the groom and bride's families.

  • 2 heart shape double happiness (22cm x15cm) - to stick on room doors
  • 2 pairs of Dragon and Phoenix candles.
  • 2 red double happiness pouch of 5 element seeds. 
  • 2 pieces of mini double happiness stickers - to stick on oranges, pig trotters cans etc.
  • 1 large Pin Jin red packet (12cm x 22cm)
  • 1 normal red packet (9cm x 17 cm) - to replace overall pig trotters or seafood etc with red packe
  • 1 red packet (16cm x 11.5cm) - to show thankfulness to the bride's parent for bringing up the bride, changing diapers etc. 养育之恩)
  • 2 double happiness handkerchief(Optional. To be placed on the jellewery box or in the base of the wedding basket)

Additional Information
Betrothal/过大礼 is usually accompanied with the following items at own expense:
- Pin Jin
- Si Dian Jin / Dragon and Phoenix Bangle (depending on dialects)
- 2 bottles of wine which signifies 长长久久,
- Even number of pig trotters canned for Hokkien, dried seafood for Cantonese (depending on dialets but modern couples would use red packet to substitute the pig trotters or dried seafood due to health consciouseness and simplicity.)
- even number of oranges(usually 6,8,12) which signifies 大吉大利

 Bride return gifts 回礼
This is to signifies that the bride's family is not greedy and is marrying the daughter to the groom instead of selling the daughter.
Items to return to groom's family on Guo Da Li ceremony:
- 2 bottles of orange juice
- Even number of oranges given by the groom (usually half)
- Pin Jin (the bride's family will take out some amount from the pin jin and return the remaining)
- Phoenix candle
